End of the Line for Meta Quest 1: Final Support Ending in August 2024

Meta Update for Quest 1

Meta plans to entirely end support for the Quest 1 in August.

At the beginning of 2023, Meta announced that it would halt introducing new features and apps for the Quest 1, indicating that the headset was on its way to obsolescence. At that point, Meta continued to support the Quest 1 in terms of hardware, providing bug fixes and security patches. This support is set to cease by September.

Eurogamer has reported that Meta has issued a notification to Quest 1 users, clarifying that from August 31, 2024, the device will no longer receive bug fixes or security updates.

Meta's statement specifies that users will still be able to download new apps and continue to use their existing apps as long as they remain supported by the developers. However, any future discoveries of security vulnerabilities could expose private data stored on or accessible from the device, leaving it at risk.

It's important to mention that Meta Quest 1 systems will still be usable and accessible, but users should not expect any further improvements or updates in the future.
