Google Introduces AI-Powered Video Creation Tool for Workspace Users in Beta Stage

Google has unveiled a new artificial intelligence-powered tool named Google Vids, which has been introduced in beta to Google Workspace users. This innovative video and presentation creation tool was initially revealed in April at the Google Cloud Next event. Unlike traditional AI video generators, Google Vids offers the ability to create editable storyboards using various input formats. Currently, the beta version of this tool is accessible exclusively to participants of Workspace Labs, with no official date set for a wider release yet.

The launch of Google Vids was confirmed by Karan S, a Google Docs Community Manager, via an enthusiastic announcement about the platform's integration with the Google Workspace suite. This new tool, powered by Gemini AI, is designed to produce professional video presentations. However, it relies on user input at various stages to generate accurate and tailored content. Users can initiate the process by providing a simple textual prompt, such as requesting a product launch presentation, which then prompts Gemini to create a storyboard complete with a video outline and section titles.

For those who prefer more control, there are numerous templates available on the platform, allowing users to jump directly to the storyboard phase. One of the standout features of Google Vids is its ability to accept multiple input formats, including Google Docs, Slides, videos, audio recordings, and more, providing the AI with a richer context for the final video output.

Users have the flexibility to make extensive edits within the storyboard, such as changing titles, reordering sections, adding or removing tiles, and more. Once the storyboard is in place, users can select a style that suits their needs. Gemini AI will then create the video, complete with stock footage, images, text, background music, and a generated script. Even after this stage, users retain the ability to make further adjustments, including adding voice-overs or modifying any elements within the video to better suit their requirements.
